Greg Jackson | Xlinks project will help answer the Dunkelflaute problem
Greg Jackson has again endorsed Xlinks and the Morocco – UK Power Project in the media.
This came in an article in The Telegraph, which reported the Commons Select Committee is looking at reliable energy supply as a political priority.
The piece states that January 8th was the tightest day for UK electricity supplies in the last 15 years.
The National Energy System Operator (NESO) managed to avert the crisis by paying generators to switch on extra power stations.
However, the price tag on this was over £12million.
Leaning on emergency measures will always come at a high cost, and analysts continue to warn of potential blackouts – particularly during the colder months – as older power stations are decommissioned.
Balancing sustainability, affordability, and security in the transition to Net Zero will inevitably throw up challenges.
That is why Greg Jackson, Founder and CEO of Octopus Energy, the UK’s largest energy supplier, highlighted the Xlinks’ Morocco-UK Power Project as one of the innovative solutions.
He said: “That would help answer the Dunkelflaute problem by providing 8pc of our electricity.”
