Xlinks has joined a group of globally renowned investors to back the Sila Atlantik project, which seeks to connect Morocco and Germany.

Sila Atlantik is an intercontinental energy project that is planning to exchange renewable power between Morocco and Germany via two high-voltage direct current (HVDC) subsea cables.

By leveraging Morocco’s regular trade winds and high solar radiation, combined with battery storage, Sila Atlantik can deliver what no other project can at comparable price and scale: reliable and flexible clean power contributing to Europe’s security of supply and energy resilience and to large industries’ decarbonisation in Morocco. With its high full-load hours, Sila Atlantik can be more reliable and flexible than other renewable generation. At the same time, the Levelised Cost of Electricity (LCOE) is significantly below other dispatchable and low carbon technologies.
